CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our highly trained staff specialize in caring for children and teens with special needs in the recreation environment. We have one staff per 3 children every day to cater to the safety and needs of our campers. Our programming is centered on each camper having a fun, safe, pro-social day in which new experiences can be grasped!

Based in North Berkeley since 1999, our camps provide a rewarding, enriching, memorable summer experience for creative and creatively-curious children in grades 2 - 12. No experience is needed, though even young actors with well-honed skills enjoy spending their summers at our camp, often explaining ''it's the summer of a life-time.''

We offer four popular summer programs: KIDS ON STAGE, ON BROADWAY, TEENS ON STAGE and BACKSTAGE for children entering 2nd grade - just graduating 12th. All our programs include a strong conservatory focus and emphasize the integral value and importance of each child's contribution to our productions.

KIDS ON STAGE - For youth entering 2nd - 6th grade.
Each two week session of KOS produces a short play based on a popular children's book, and concludes with a final performance for friends and family. In addition to rehearsing a play, campers will sing, dance, act and learn about stage craft. Swimming, one afternoon a week.

This six-week camp runs July 7, 2014 - August 17, 2014, culminating in a professionally-staged production of Carrie, The Musical. CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: BACKSTAGE - For youth entering the 8th — just graduating 12th grade.

BACKSTAGE is an exciting counselor-in-training program for teenagers. Each counselor will select a specific focus, such as choreography, stage and set design, music, costuming, stage management or direction. Counselors will be actively engaged in one or more of our productions and gain valuable vocational training in their area of focus.

Stage Door Conservatory nurtures the social, emotional and intellectual development of children using by the performing arts as a vehicle of learning. By supporting children to express themselves as theater artists and engage collaboratively with others in the creative process, we help them develop both confidence in themselves and their potential and greater acceptance, appreciation and respect for others.

OUR GOALS

We will create experiences that nurture and support the creative lives of young persons, using musical theater as a vehicle for learning.

Our programs will serve youth in grades 2 through 12.

Our programs will offer youth a rich conservatory experience, providing them with opportunities to develop their skills as singers, actors and dancers, learn the art of stage-craft and perform publically as an ensemble in high caliber productions.

We will offer our programs to actors with all levels of prior experience and skill, providing opportunities for each participant to express themselves creatively and participate meaningfully in our productions.

We will encourage our young actors to regard and support one another as equal members of a collaborative ensemble, where each person's contributions are valued equally.

We will encourage our audiences to become members of a special circle of support and celebrate our young performers, not only participate as bystanders.

We will encourage our participants to reflect on their own lives, as well as the cultural, social, moral and spiritual themes represented in our productions, both to help them develop their understanding of theater and the contexts in which it was been created. We will help young performers to develop their capacities for empathy and respect for others, as they explore the human themes depicted in our plays.

We will encourage our young actors to co-create a community of caring with one another, and to communicate with one another with respect.

CAMP LIFE Many children regard Stage Door Conservatory a home away from home because we focus on creating a sense of community for everyone who join us. During our first week together, as in all subsequently weeks, we will focus on developing a strong sense of esprit d-corps among our campers ... encouraging the creation of new bonds between the children who are becoming newly acquainted as members of our ensemble, as well as the renewal of old bond among children who have spent prior summers together as members of our camp. Both ON BROADWAY and TEENS ON STAGE include many alumni who participate in our program year after year. AN ENSEMBLE and CONSERVATORY PHILOSOPHY

Both ON BROADWAY and TEENS ON STAGE are ensemble-based programs. During our first weeks together, we will encourage our young actors to collaborate in the creative process together and to appreciate and support one another as persons and performers. We will emphasize the unique importance of each child who is a part of our production, whether they are performing in a lead role or as a member of our ensemble. Because we are a conservatory, in addition to rehearsing and performing in a high caliber production, children participate in every aspect of our production, from costuming, to set-design, to props development.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our Ballet studio is located in downtown Alameda near shopping and restaurants. It is in a beautiful old building with hardwood floors and large windows with lots of natural light.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Ages 4-6yrs: This level is for beginning students as well as those who have already been in a dance program. In addition to a daily dance class, children learn about and watch a different famous classical ballet each week. They explore their own creativity through exercise in movement concepts. Students also learn valuable lessons about anatomy, nutrition, dance history and vocabulary. Every child goes home with their own Ballet Camp Scrapbook they have created each week.

Ages 7-12yrs: This level is similar in structure and content to the camp for 4 - 6 year olds, but is for children whose focus, coordination, reading and writing skills are more developed. This camp includes a daily ballet class, video of a classical ballet, lessons in music, dance history, anatomy, nutrition and ballet vocabulary. Students explore their creativity with exercises in choreography and activities related to the classical ballet they are studying. Plus, students go home with their own Ballet Camp Scrapbook they have created each week.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our 7,500 sq. ft facility houses two professional stages (65-seat and 99-seat), rehearsal and classroom space, offices, and a large lobby gallery. Nestled between a cafe, salon, retail shops, and a popular wine bar, Edgemar Center for the Arts is the anchor of the Edgemar complex on Main Street in Santa Monica. The interior courtyard provides a hub of activity and a convergence of artists, businesses, residents, and visitors to this beachside destination. The complex is a stop on the tour of local gems designed by architect Frank Gehry. The Los Angeles region has a wealth of small "black box" theatres, many of them housed in older structures. Edgemar Center for the Arts theatre’s are unique in size and height and are designed for the challenges of modern stage productions. The Westside, in particular, has only a handful of theatres and Edgemar Center for the Arts stands alone as the only such center in its class.

Fairytales & Superheroes for Boys & Girls Acting Camp

CAMP FACILITIES: Beautiful and recently renovated Black Box Theater. It has a stage and comfortable back stage. All of our props and backgrounds are designed and created by hand. Elevated seating that can fit up to 90 people. There is a ticket booth and a functioning restroom. Different types of lighting: black light, fluorescent, stage lighting, rope lighting, and a disco ball. A working sound board, music, and up-to-date stereo system. We utilize different media options as well.
A few buildings away is our main office, where rehearsals may sometimes be held. It has 3 spacious rehearsal rooms, each with a baby grand piano.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: A sleeping princess, a spellbound Prince and more fairies than you can shake a stick at are all part of this quirky adaptation of the popular tale. The evil Trollarina exacts her revenge on the royal family by sending the beautiful Princess Melisande into an everlasting sleep, but little does she realize more than one spell is about to be broken by the kiss of an enchanted Faun.

We do not skip out on costumes! Every participant will be outfitted in a role and age appropriate costumes for the performance. The actors and actress will also interact with carefully designed and created props.

Students will be learning stage position, projection of their voice, blocking, how to interpret a scrip, read music, sing in a group, and dancing. Since the plays we do are musicals, the actors and actresses will learn the basics of singing. It includes, reading music, matching pitch, group and possibly solo singing, tempo, and rhythms. Our choreographer will teach dance positions, dance moves, rhythm, counting, and tempo. Every lesson is created with the children's skill level and abilities in mind and we always encourage them and help them strive for their best.

CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
The camp is a four week program running Monday through Friday, 9AM to Noon, beginning June 17th and going through July 12th. The camp location is at the Studio C Theater in Livermore, at 51-C Wright Brothers Avenue. The performances will be on Saturday, July 13th and Sunday, July 14.

The regular tuition for the 4 week program is $450. Enrollments before June 1, 2013 will receive a 10% discount, reducing the tuition to $405.00, with a 25% deposit of $101.25 due at the time of registration. The balance of the tuition is due by June 1st, 2013. Enrollments after June 1st must pay the full tuition at the time of enrollment.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our Story Ballet Camp is designed for students ages 3 to 5 and ages 6 to 8 to increase the love and appreciation of the art of dance while improving coordination, physical fitness, performance ability, self-esteem and discipline. A storybook theme will be offered during each session, and all activities will revolve around the ballet theme. There will be a demonstration at the end of the week for parents to attend.

CAMP FACILITIES: Jam Camp West is held at Redwood Glen Camp. Talented Tots - This is a creative movement and fun class for toddlers and parents. Children will learn basic dance skills such as skipping, marching and galloping. Class includes singing and dancing. Everyone will have the opportunity for organized play and motor skill development using hula hoops, scarves, beanbags, tunnels, balls, parachutes and much more. Tiny Stars - This fun and exciting class teaches the fundamentals of both Tap and Ballet along with song and movement. This class is specifically designed for young dancers, and will include basic dance steps and routines. The class is structured to allow young dancers to explore and appreciate the world of dance. Parents may participate however, dancers are encourage to dance on their own. Proper dance attire (Tap and ballet shoes) are encouraged. CAMP FACILITIES: In both NYC and LA, campuses are accessible only with a valid AMDA photo identification card, which High School Summer Conservatory students receive.

Supervision is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. When students are not in class with our world-class faculty, they are supervised by members of our trained AMDA staff.

Students leave campus only for planned and chaperoned outings, which may include going to a Broadway show or visiting NYC and LA tourist destinations.

CAMP FACILITIES: ODC Dance Commons, a 23,000 square foot building located at 351 Shotwell St. (between 17th and 18th streets), offers an environment where professionals, emerging artists, students, and dance fans can congregate, exchange ideas and inspire one another. A gathering place for our cultural community since 2005, new art work is percolating in every studio, 200 classes a week in all forms of dance draw hundreds of students of all ages each day, and the Healthy Dancers' Clinic tends to our constituents daily. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: This Summer ODC School will be offering an 8 week session for our Young Creative classes for students age 2-7, classes will take place Saturday's and Sunday's June 7-July 27, 2014. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: California Theatre Center's Core Conservatory is a full-day theatre experience for students with or without prior theatre training. Students work hands-on with CTC's professional teaching artists in acting, movement and voice classes. All students are cast in a play that is performed for the public on the final two days. In this process-based Conservatory, the students also design and build all props, sets, costumes, tickets and programs as they engage in and learn about every aspect of live theatre. These tracks are campers' concentration for each session. All instruction takes place in small group lessons and is led by experienced and enthusiastic female musicians, producers, artists, and teachers.

MEALS
Food, glorious food! All meals are delicious and included. Breakfast is typically served between 7:00–8:00 am; lunch is around 12:00 pm; and dinner is usually around 6:00 pm. This is subject to change, so please keep your ears perked throughout the day for announcements to make sure you don’t miss a meal. SPECIAL GUEST ARTIST PERFORMANCES
Every session, a different band plays a live set for the girls and then sticks around for an intimate Q&A. In our end of program survey this was a major highlight for the girls. They learned about different genres of music and had a fun time listening to the bands and getting to engage in meaningful discussions with the visiting artists.

FINAL SHOWCASE
At the end of the session, all campers show off their original work at the Final Showcase for the whole camp community!

CAMP FACILITIES: This site offers indoor dormitory sleeping in bunks with mattresses provided. Campers are grouped together by age and supervised by their counseling staff. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Saint Francis is a week filled with programs that allow campers to explore and experience outdoor activities and create for themselves a closer connection to God and their communities.

Established in 2001, CSF moved to its new host site in 2014. This Camp Meeker location affords opportunities for activities like crafts, campfire, archery, games, sports, dance, water fun and nature hikes.

We build on themes of understanding and compassion in all of our programs, particularly in chapel, our scarf program, group games and discussions and our creative lessons and themes throughout the week.

Most of our staff are volunteers and attended camp as campers, and they are dedicated to providing a highly spirited, fun, and welcoming environment. We all strive to be good role models of the Christian way of life. We hope that our positive example and loving Christian environment promotes campers to grow spiritually.

The Scarf program, adopted from the YMCA’s ragger program, teaches campers important life skills, by taking on personal challenges and working towards overcoming them successfully. Ultimately, this helps develop lifelong tools a camper needs for personal growth. * Staff members are screened and trained in program, policies, and safety awareness. Our program is sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of California and is welcoming and inclusive.

Volunteers are welcome to apply for counseling and program activity leadership positions. As much of our focus is on outreach to lower-income families, we can only provide a stipend as budget allows. CAMP FACILITIES: Our camps take place in our theater and surrounding spaces. We have a mainstage, a green room/rehearsal room with mirrors, and some outdoor rehearsal space. We also share space with the Foster City Recreation department, and a local school.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Hillbarn Theatre Conservatory, formed in 2000, is a theatre arts education program serving the needs of youth and adolescents, ages 4-18, in Foster City and the mid-peninsula area.

• An in-depth, training ground for young people who want to learn any aspect of theatre and performance.

CAMP FACILITIES: Shawl-Anderson Dance Center has four studios in a converted Berkeley Craftsman house. The center has been a vibrant part of the Berkeley community for over 50 years, teaching non-competitive dance to all ages and levels.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: This immersion is for students who have just completed grades 8-12 with at least two consistent years of modern dance training. The focus to immerse intermediate and advanced students in a rigorous week of training designed to enhance and support their technical proficiency in modern dance. Each day, students will take ballet and modern technique classes along with a variety of additional classes including inversions, floor work, phrase work and more. Staff includes Shawl-Anderson faculty and other Bay Area guest artists.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Small class sizes ensure the best dance education. Every student is valued and instructed by a warm and friendly staff in a variety of dance forms, including ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, and tap.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Hudson Dance Academy provides the best dance instruction for ages 2.5 to adult and for all skill levels, focusing on technique and artistry in a family-friendly environment. Classes offered include jazz, ballet, tap, hip hop, and contemporary.

CAMP FACILITIES: Mariposa Day Camp, located in Altadena, offers themed weeks with several different emphases for girls to choose from. Girls participate in new and traditional Girl Scouts activities while making new friends, developing self-esteem and making lasting memories. Introducing new and exciting activities this summer such as a brand new gaga court, low ropes and team building activities plus kids kitchen which gives each girl the opportunity to prepare a fun and different snack each week. The themes for each week provide additional activities and enjoyment for the campers. All day camps include daily snacks, a camp souvenir, any badges earned, and a 4X6 camp group photo. Let’s journey back in time to when Laura Ingalls Wilder was a young girl.
